What to Expect

This route used to start at Babosas, Monte, next to the cable car. However, due some interruptions in the beginning of the trail we propose an alternative and temporary beginning at Choupana. Along the way, done side by side with the levada you can admire several species of flora and fauna of the region. Occasionally, there are fantastic views over the bay of Funchal, offering a full perspective of the city composed of a dense set of picturesque buildings that have as background the deep blue of the Atlantic Ocean that bathes this wonderful island. Further in this trail, you may visit famous tea house where you can enjoy its gardens, cheerfully painted with the colors of the hydrangeas and other flowers that compose it. At the end of the path you will reach the Palheiro Ferreiro´s area, where you can enjoy a different panoramic from Funchal city. It is a very pleasant walk to do, filled with amazing landscapes in a harmonious mix of flora, fauna and housing.
