VEREDA DA PONTA DE SÃO LOURENÇO (PR8)

Rabaçal – Levada das 25 Fontes e Risco (PR6) or Calheta – Levada das 25 Fontes e Risco

When we speak of Levadas of the Island of Madeira, it is impossible not to remember the Levada das 25 Fontes. And it is indeed one of the most traveled on the island of Madeira. The flow of people is always intense, some faster than others, to reach the high point of the walk: The Lagoon and its waterfalls. It is a magical place where you can rest a little listening the sound of nature or, if the weather invites, you can swim on the lagoon.

LEVADA DO CALDEIRÃO VERDE (PR9)

This is one of the most traveled walks of Madeira Island and a real postcard. Starting at Queimadas, in Santana, this Levada reflects the beauty of nature and the laurissilva of Madeira, along the whole route. At the end, there is the high point of the walk: The magnificent waterfall of the Calderão Verde. Take some time to rest near the pond and recharge your batteries in this inspiring space.

RIBEIRO FRIO – PORTELA (PR10)

Undoubtedly one of Madeira’s best-known hikes, which is a bit longer and maybe requires more resistance. The path begins next to the Ribeiro Frio Trout Park, where children can meet a big amount of trouts of several sizes, and ends next to the portela viewpoint, where you can appreciate the iconic Rocha da Penha D’Águia.

VEREDA DO BALCÕES (PR11)

Small in distance but huge in sensations! It is an accessible route that anyone can walk through, to discover a beautiful place of the Island that has much to offer. Beginning next to the Ribeiro Frio Forest Park, many people walk along this path to get to one of the most emblematic places in Madeira: the viewpoint “Miradouro dos Balcões”. Here you can admire a fascinating view of the various peaks of Madeira Island, as well as some rural areas of the archipelago. Moreover, this belvedere is also a very appreciated place for birdwatching.

VEREDA DO AREEIRO – PICO RUIVO (PR1)

The emblematic link between the two highest peaks of Madeira Island is always an exciting way to go. The landscapes are simply extraordinary. It is true that it is not an easy course, especially on a physical level due to the numerous ascents and descents, but the experience of being on the top of the Island, often above the clouds, makes us dream, feel closer to the sky.
